ANOTHER $24,200 ‘LICK’ OF FUNDING FOR WARIALDA SHOWGROUND

Warialda Showground Trustee Lex Roberts and David Moor were keen to put Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall to work on the end of paintbrush last Friday at the showground

THE wooden pavilions and buildings at the Warialda Showground will soon receive a well-earned lick of fresh paint courtesy of a $24,200 grant from the NSW Government’s Public Reserves Management Fund (PRMF), Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall announced today.

Mr Marshall met with Trust members at the showground last Friday to deliver the good news and discuss their plans.

“A total of $489,032 has been allocated to public reserve projects in the Northern Tablelands and I’m pleased to see the Warialda Showground will receive these funds to undertake building maintenance works,” Mr Marshall said.

“I was very happy to again support the Trust’s application – they are very hard working group and determined to continue improving the facilities at the showground.

“The exterior walls of all the wooden buildings will be repainted – a huge job for the trust members as they will do the preparation work before calling in the professionals to do the painting.

“The Trustees are no strangers to big jobs or hard work and I commend them for their enthusiasm and thank them on behalf of the State Government for their commitment to maintain this important community asset.”

Mr Marshall said the Warialda Showground Trust hoped to have the job completed by next year as they were hosting the 2016 National Shearing Competition later in the year.

The MP said the showground was beginning to show the results of a combination of multiple government grants, matched with hundreds of hours of volunteer work.

“In the last two years, more than $172,000 has been secured from the State Government for improvements works at the showground, including the construction of a new ring fence, electrical re-wiring of the entire ground, a new pony club canteen and now re-painting the buildings,” Mr Marshall said.

“This is tribute to the hard-work of the Trustees and the community support and use of this important facility. The showground is looking terrific!”
