LOCALS URGED TO ‘GET THE PADS ON’ FOR CRICKET NSW GRANTS

MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall is encouraging local councils, clubs, schools and organisations to apply for funding from the Cricket NSW 2015/16 Grants Program for projects designed to provide opportunities for people to play cricket.

Mr Marshall, himself a cricketer and umpire, said the main aim of the program was to improve playing and practice facilities available to cricketers of all ages across NSW, including the development and expansion of training nets, the establishment and repair of synthetic and turf wickets, as well as improvements to amenities.

“Funding is available for up to a maximum of 25 per cent of the total cost of the project, capped at $25,000,” Mr Marshall said.

“To be eligible, projects must have commenced after 1 January 2015 and be scheduled for completion before 31 December 2016.

“The grants program will deliver on Cricket NSW’s goal to ensure a quality experience for all club cricketers and will assist in the building of new training and playing facilities, or the upgrade existing infrastructure.

“I commend Cricket NSW for this excellent initiative to support grass roots sport and I urge communities in the Northern Tablelands to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Mr Marshall said organisations interested in applying for the Grants Program should contact Cricket NSW either by phone 02 8302 6000 or via email gamedevelopment@cricketnsw.com.au to obtain a copy of the guidelines and application forms.

Applications close on Wednesday, 30 September 2015, with successful applicants to be notified by the end of October 2015.
