SERVICE NSW PARTNERS WITH GWYDIR SHIRE TO DELIVER FOR COMMUNITY

MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall today announced that the council agency and government access program hosted by local councils has joined the broader Service NSW network.

Mr Marshall said the move was part of a wider program now underway to boost access to government services to around 30 remote and rural communities across NSW.

“Important transactional services delivered through Gwydir Shire Council will soon be managed by Service NSW,” Mr Marshall said.

“These include agencies based in Bingara and Warialda.

“The move kicks off a new partnership with local government and paves the way for other services to be delivered to communities around the state with Service NSW.

“Over the coming months, Service NSW will work closely with Gwydir Shire to improve services as well as simplify and streamline processes.”

For the present there will be no change to services, with operating hours and services remaining the same.

Mr Marshall praised Gwydir Shire Council for the fantastic job delivering Roads and Maritime Services in the community.

“Some council agencies are already providing access to other government services such as birth certificate applications and Fair Trading licences. We want to build on those positive relationships to ensure the services are not only maintained but enhanced into the future,” he said.

“Not only does this mean vital services staying in those communities but this style of agency program – where councils deliver services on behalf of the State Government – will be expanded even further to grow the Service NSW presence around the State.

“We will also take the opportunity to provide more digital access where customers can take advantage of carrying out even more transactions online.”

Mr Marshall said customer feedback would be used to further refine and improve delivery of services.
