STRIKE FORCE CLAYMORE FOR MOREE

Monday, 27 November 2017

I welcome the announcement today by the NSW Police of the establishment and deployment of Strike Force Claymore to Moree.

The Strike Force was deployed over the weekend with early success seeing multiple arrests, charges laid and drug detections over the last two days.

This is exactly the response the good people of the Moree community have been waiting for. They have had enough of the small group of lowlifes that think the rule of law does not apply to them and who have no respect for other people’s liberty and property. Their time of behaving like they own the town will hopefully soon be at an end.

I thank NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys APM for his quick response my request on behalf of the community for the establishment of the Strike Force to provide high visibility policing locally and to target known juvenile gang members, their families and associates.

The officers of the Strike Force will be visible and will target those in the community with outstanding warrants, those who are in breach of bail conditions and those who are wanted by the Police. Pleasingly, anti-social behaviour will be treated with zero tolerance.

I am assured by the Deputy Commissioner that the Strike Force will be deployed until the issues in the community are resolved and those who have been perpetrating acts of violence and destruction are apprehended.

Over the weekend, the actions of the Strike Force and local police resulted in:
• Around 200 vehicle stops
• 20 traffic infringement notices issued
• 26 searches
• 18 move on directions issued
• 2 drug detections
• 7 offenders charged with 10 separate offences.

This is just the beginning of their operations.

The Strike Force Team comprises highly motivated and skilled proactive investigators from the Western Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team, Target Action Group, Detectives, Police Dog Squad, Youth Liaison Officer and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command

Police will be providing regular updates on the activities of Strike Force operations.
