THE region is set for a digital jobs boost with the first wave of recruitment starting today for the new TAFE Digital Headquarters in Armidale.

Member for Northern Tablelands and Assistant Minister for Skills Adam Marshall made the announcement at the Armidale TAFE Campus today and said TAFE NSW was advertising three senior roles to head up TAFE NSW’s digital arm, following last year’s NSW Government announcement that Armidale will be home to the new TAFE Digital HQ.

“As both the local Member and Assistant Minister for Skills, I am pleased to say the NSW Government has delivered on its promise to modernise TAFE and expand its presence across rural and regional NSW,” Mr Marshall said.

“The placement of these high-level leadership positions in Armidale is a big vote of confidence for the region and will lead to further recruitment and more opportunities to keep our local talent in the area.

“With more than 40 new jobs being created right here this year, TAFE Digital will be a huge boon for this region and also confirm Armidale as a leader in modern education delivery.

“TAFE Digital will be pivotal in addressing training and education needs of the future and is just one of a stack of initiatives being rolled out by the NSW Government to provide strong regional employment opportunities, including SkillsPoints, Connected Learning Centres and the regionally dispersed TAFE NSW corporate office.

“Digital technologies have fundamentally altered the knowledge and skill requirements for jobs as well as the expectations of students for teaching and learning services.

“TAFE Digital will take online learning to the next level using the latest digital course content, innovative teaching approaches and reality simulation technology to recreate working environments.”

The three roles include TAFE NSW Digital’s Head of Digital Design, Head of Digital Learning Lab and Head of Product Design.

Mr Marshall said TAFE Digital would be accepting enrolments through its new portal towards the end of the year as it brings together its existing digital brands.

The recruitment of another 40 staff will to work out of the HQ will begin soon, who will work with other digitally enabled TAFE NSW staff right across the State.

TAFE Digital will be established at the Armidale TAFE NSW Campus in an existing refurbished building
