GLEN Innes Showground land managers are celebrating a double funding win as they are set to receive $153,844 under the Stronger Country Communities Fund to improve disability access as well as $10,000 for new amenities under the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund, Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall announced today.

Mr Marshall visited the Glen Innes Showground recently to deliver the good news.

“The iconic Glen Innes Showground is without doubt one of the most stunning in country NSW, with wonderful facilities and historic buildings, and it’s vital the State Government continues to help locals maintain them,” Mr Marshall said.

“These latest grants will help the land managers modernise some of the older facilities and ensure they can continue to serve the community well into the future, for visitors and showground users.

“The money will go towards the construction of a 200-metre wheelchair accessible pavement, the replacement of deteriorating asphalt at the entrance and three new accessible toilet blocks.

“There are so many groups that use the showground throughout the year, including the Pony Club, Show Society and the Rural Youth among many more – everyone will benefit from the upgrades.”

Chairman of the Glen Innes Showground Land Managers Phil Lynn said they appreciated the latest funding.

“Glen Innes Showground Land Managers are so appreciative of the continued support from both Crown Lands as well as Adam, who have provided the financial assistance to continue to improve our showground,” Mr Lynn said.

“We want to maintain Glen Innes Showground as one of the best showgrounds in NSW.”

Mr Lynn said local contractors would be engaged to undertake the projects and expect to have the works completed by the end of the year.
