INVERELL Jockey Club has teamed up with the Inverell Women’s Shed to keep patrons COVIDSafe during the 2021 racing season, using a $3,679 State Government grant to engage the organisation for COVID marshalling and cleaning services.

Mr Marshall said the funds would support considerable efforts already made by Inverell Jockey Club to keep the gates open and events running.

“COVIDSafe procedures have placed added pressure on volunteer run organisations which have needed to provide workers to clean facilities and monitor the movements of people at events,” Mr Marshall said.

“In order to stay ahead of the curve, Inverell Jockey Club will use this money to engage Inverell Women’s Shed for touch point cleaning of the amenities and enclosures.

“The club will also purchase two additional sanitising stations, with hands free soap dispensers and refill product.

“This grant is supporting two well-respected community organisations, which have both worked hard to give the community a social outlet throughout this most difficult eighteen month period.

“I congratulate the Inverell Jockey Club and Inverell Women’s Shed on this partnership which benefits not only themselves, but helps to keep races meets running and visitors spending in town.”

President Peter Tanner said the Inverell Jockey Club was thankful to receive the grant which will to keep facilities COVIDSafe for trainers, staff and patrons.

“We really enjoy working with the Inverell Women’s Shed, an organisation which provides a great social outlet for the ladies of Inverell and surrounding districts,” Mr Tanner said.

“With the support of their member, we will be able to successfully manage the huge task of spot cleaning and sanitising our grounds on race day.

“This $3,679 will go a long way, as we are purchasing all cleaning supplies from Inverell based business Biz Clean Mats and Hygiene Services.

“Being COVIDSafe must be a priority if we are to see racing continue in NSW. Every step we take is about ensuring all racing participants and patrons feel they are safe to relax and enjoy themselves.

“We thank Adam and the State Government for their support.”
