MOREE’S popular foodie festival Moree on a Plate has received a $20,000 State Government-funded boost for next year’s 20th anniversary event, Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall announced today.

Mr Marshall said the funding would help the Moree on a Plate committee prepare for a mouth-watering weekend of festivities and showcase of produce.

“This is a wildly popular event that brings Moree to life each year,” Mr Marshall said.

“The funding will be used to help the volunteer organising committee with marketing and promotion material, ready for next May’s big event.

“It will be an action packed few days that will attract thousands of visitors and fuel local businesses and the local economy.

“Local growers, brewers, chefs and bakers will be among next year’s line up with no shortage of entertainment either.”

Moree on a Plate Vice President Georgina Poole said the committee was extremely grateful for the funding and that it would contribute enormously to the festival’s strength attracting tourists to the region.

“Moree on a Plate is an opportunity to showcase the fantastic community that Moree is, and over the past 20 years has evolved into a significant tourism drawcard for the region,” Ms Poole said.

“This funding will now allow us to undertake a nation-wide marketing campaign to celebrate the festival’s 20-year anniversary in May 2024 and attract even more visitors to our wonderful part of the world.”

Mr Marshall said the funding was secured under the Regional Events Fund, designed to increase tourism and boost the local economy in regional areas.

Moree on a Plate will be held on Saturday, 11 May, 2024.
