DRIVE-THROUGH COVID-19 TESTING RETURNING TO ARMIDALE

Friday, 24 July 2020

NORTHERN Tablelands MP Adam Marshal has today announced the drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic at Armidale Hospital will reopen on Monday (27 July) in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases in NSW.

Mr Marshall said while the region remained free of any active coronavirus cases, new cases in the Hunter had put health authorities on high alert.

“Our State is now facing the most critical stage of the COVID-19 pandemic since the initial late-March lockdown,” Mr Marshall said.

“We all have to vigilant and cannot afford any complacency – we have all given up too much to go backwards, like Victoria has.

“Anyone with a cough, a sore or scratchy throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste, loss of smell or a fever (37.5° or higher) should be tested.

“Even those with mild symptoms such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a new runny nose are encouraged to arrange screening.

“The Armidale clinic will operate 1pm to 3pm, Monday to Friday, however hours may be extended to meet demand. People should call 0427 923 080 during operating hours to book an appointment before attending the clinic.

“If we have learnt anything from the outbreak in Victoria, it is the need for people to STAY AT HOME AND ISOLATE until their test results come back negative.

“Our businesses and communities cannot afford the economic cost of restrictions being brought back in because of another severe outbreak.

“It falls on all of us to the right thing and adhere to the health advice of washing and sanitising your hands regularly, sneezing and coughing into your elbow and keeping at least 1.5 metres from others.”
