MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall is calling on local councils and organisations across the region to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for a share in up to $8 million funding under the revamped ClubGRANTS program.
Mr Marshall said that EOI applications for the 2015/16 ClubGRANTS Category 3 funding round was open until Thursday, 8 October.
“This funding round offers up to $8 million to support the development of high quality and well managed sport and recreation facilities,” Mr Marshall said.
“Good local sport facilities are a key component to any cohesive community and I know there are many sites in the Northern Tablelands that are in dire need of an upgrade.
“This new fund is designed to help those facilities with a particular focus on projects that can benefit disadvantaged, regional and remote communities and I’d like to urge local sporting groups in the Northern Tablelands to take up this terrific opportunity.”
Mr Marshall said Inverell Shire Council secured $510,000 from the last round of the program for the $1 million redevelopment of Inverell’s Cameron Park and $1.78 million was allocated to the the Moree Boomerangs to transform the Burt Jovanovich Oval in Moree into a state-of-the-art facility.
“I’m was very pleased we were able to secure the funding to see these important sports infrastructure projects proceed and I’m hoping for a similar result in this round,” he said.
“Up to 16 projects will be supported in this round and grants will range from $500,000 up to a maximum of $1 million.
“Competition for this funding will be fierce, but there’s no reason why we cannot secure funding for a project or two in the region.”

EOIs will close on 8 October 2015, after which approved applicants will be invited to lodge formal applications by 16 December 2015. Successful projects will be announced in early 2016 with the cultural and emergency services rounds to open in the coming months.
All applications will be assessed by the independent ClubGRANTS Fund Committee which is made-up of representatives from Sport NSW, Clubs NSW, OLGR, Arts NSW, the Office of Regional Development, the Office of Emergency Management. For the first time the committee will also include rotating sport association representatives with rugby league, netball, soccer and cricket selected for this round.
