MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall is encouraging local sporting clubs from across the region to apply for funding from the State Government’s Local Sport Grant Program, when applications open tomorrow, Thursday, 26 November.
Mr Marshall said the program aimed to increase regular and on-going participation in sport and active recreation.
“The Local Sport Grant Program will provide funding for sports clubs in the Northern Tablelands and across NSW,” Mr Marshall said.
“Sport is incredibly important for health and wellbeing and in country NSW it also plays a role in bringing people in the community together for social occasions.
“Whether it be funding towards training programs to secure more volunteer coaches or helping with that much-needed change room or amenities block upgrade, these grants are designed to encourage more people to stay active.”
Mr Marshall said there were four project types within the program this year, each with its own funding application limit:
- Sport club development (maximum of $2,000 per club per year);
- Community sport events ($5,000);
- Sport access ($5,000); and
- Facility development and capital equipment ($25,000).
“As I travel around the electorate, I know there are many sporting clubs which have projects that could benefit greatly from this funding so I urge all clubs to have a close look at this program and lodge an application,” Mr Marshall said.
Applications open on 26 November 2015 and close 11 February 2016.
