MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall has today congratulated Melanie Schubert from Moree Little Athletics, who has been recognised through the Office of Sport’s Western Region Sporting Spirit Volunteer Awards.
The MP said the awards were a great way to applaud the workers and volunteers behind the scenes, who make a huge effort in supporting the competitors.
“Melanie was recognised in the Youth section of the Sporting Spirit Volunteer Awards for her selfless efforts in assisting at the Moree Little Athletics club,” Mr Marshall said
“She often forgoes her own training and events to assist in coaching, record keeping and other tasks as required.
“Melanie is an excellent role model to the younger members of the club and I commend her achievement.”
The Western Region Sporting Spirit Volunteer Awards recognised the hard work and dedication of our region’s sport volunteers in time for International Volunteers Day on December 5.
“International Volunteers Day recognizes the individuals who are engaged in volunteering their time, energy and skills to enable our communities to participate in sport and enjoy a healthier more active future,” Mr Marshall said.
“I congratulate the winners and runners up as well as say a big thank you all the volunteers across the regions – they are the lifeblood of grassroots sport across western NSW.
“We all rely on thehardworkanddedicationofourregion’svolunteers so we can enjoy our weekend sport.”
The winners of their categories will receive a voucher for $250 and $100 to spend on sports development programs provide by the Office of Sport, Sport and Recreation.
