THE countdown is on until Moree’s first Service NSW Centre opens its doors, with the fit-out of the shopfront in the middle of the town’s CBD almost finished, Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall announced today.

Mr Marshall said five new staff would work in the centre, located at 80 Balo Street, giving local residents access to hundreds of NSW Government transactions and services in one convenient location.

“The new centre will make it easier for Moree residents to interact with agencies including Roads and Maritime Services, Fair Trading and Births, Deaths and Marriages,” Mr Marshall said.

“Just because you live in a country area doesn’t mean you should have any less access to essential government services.

“This centre will provide face to face services and allow people to get a birth certificate, vehicle registration, a driver licence and also Seniors Card.

“It gives residents and businesses access to the same range of transactions available at centres like Armidale.”

The Moree Service NSW Centre is expected to open by September and will be operating between 9am and 4pm on weekdays.

“Households across the electorate are accessing considerable savings when they book in a one hour appointments with a Service NSW Cost of Living Specialist,” Mr Marshall said.

“At Armidale figures show there have been close to 550 Cost of Living appointments made with an average saving of $972, an opportunity I want Moree residents to have access to.

“I want to make sure people can access more than 70 government rebates and savings available through Service NSW including CTP refunds, Active Kids, Creative Kids and Energy Switch.”

Mr Marshall said the centre will complement the Mobile Service Centre which is a custom-fitted bus with dedicated Service NSW staff.

“The bus takes Service NSW to the people, saving them not only time, but also money. It performs the same transactions available at most centres,” he said.

“I encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of this fantastic service.”

This month the bus will again be in Yetman, Ashford, Boggabilla and Mungindi. More details are on the Service NSW website.
