A NEW multipurpose AWD is on the cards for the New England Family Support Service, with news of a $51,353 funding boost under the State Government’s Club Grants program, Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall has announced today.

Mr Marshall made the announcement alongside NEFSS Chair Margaret Sims, General Manager Anne Rix, Neighbourhood Centre Co-ordinator and RFS Peer Support Worker, Jaz Taylor and Family Support staff at their Rusden Street office this morning.

“This is terrific news for New England Family Support Service who provide much-needed services in our community,” Mr Marshall said.

“The funding will be used to purchase a Mazda BT-50 which will be used for emergency preparation and response, delivering food hampers and keeping food pantries in Walcha, Bundarra, and Uralla well stocked.

“Their services are particularly vital for preparing rural and isolated communities with information and training in preparation for disasters and emergencies.

“The new vehicle will allow for easy travel to communities who can often be left feeling isolated during difficult periods.”

New England Family Support Service Manager Anne Rix said the cash boost would go towards supporting the organisation’s overall mission.

“The money will be used to purchase a Mazda BT-50 which will be crucial for emergency preparation and disaster response,” Ms Rix said.

“The Mazda Foundation Rural Recovery Project and the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal have helped us provide on-the-ground rural support services that will make great use of the BT50.

“The new vehicle will also be used to help provide food aid and emergency support in Armidale.”

Ms Rix said New England Family Support Service had partnered with Armidale Mazda, who were providing the BT-50 and are proud supporters of rural communities.
