MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall hastoday reminded local eligible families they have a week to apply for the NSW Government’s Family Energy Rebate (FER) for the 2014-15 financial year.
Applications for this financial year’s rebate close at midnight on 16 June 2015.
Mr Marshall said families with dependent children who received Family Tax Benefit A or B this financial year could apply for up to $150 assistance.
“The money is there so please take advantage of this assistance. I don’t want to see any eligible family in the Northern Tablelands miss out on the rebate,” Mr Marshall said.
“Those who have lived long-term in residential communities can apply for up to $165 to cover the cost of electricity supplied by their community operator.”
Mr Marshall said the FER was promoted through more than 8,100 primary and secondary schools, pre-schools, kindergartens and childcare center’s since applications opened on 1 July 2014.
“This has resulted in a 235 per cent increase in the number of applications over the first three months of this year compared to last year,” Mr Marshall said.
“It takes just a few minutes to complete the form and that’s why more than 90 per cent of households have applied online.
“Just remember to have a recent electricity bill handy and your Department of Human Services customer reference number.
“I strongly encourage all eligible households throughout the region to take the time to apply for the FER before the 16 June 2015 cut-off date.”
The NSW Government also provides crucial help through the Low Income Household Rebate, Energy Accounts Payment Assistance scheme, the Life Support Rebate and Medical Energy Rebate.
Households eligible for the Family Energy Rebate and the Low Income Household Rebate receive an annual, combined, capped rebate of $250.
