MEMBER for Northern Tablelands and the Minister responsible for TAFE NSW Adam Marshall today welcomed Deepa Salkan to Armidale – one of the forty Digital Specialists who will be based at the local TAFE Digital Headquarters.

Deepa, formerly of Sydney, has secured one of the newly created jobs on offer at the TAFE Digital Headquarters which will help revolutionise TAFE NSW’s online learning platforms and service the more than 100,000 TAFE students across the state doing online courses.

Mr Marshall said he was delighted the establishment of the Digital Headquarters in Armidale was generating jobs and attracting talented individuals to the area.

“The establishment of the TAFE Digital Headquarters here in Armidale is delivering on the NSW Government’s promise to bring the digital jobs of the future to country NSW in order to strengthen our local communities and local economies,” Mr Marshall said.

“The placement of these high-level leadership positions in Armidale is a big vote of confidence in our region and will help retain as well as entice talented workers to the area.

“This sends a strong signal that regional centres like Armidale can serve as important hubs for delivering state-wide services and will help ensure regional NSW can compete with the city when it comes to housing high-skilled jobs.

“I welcome Deepa and all of the new TAFE Digital employees, particularly those joining our Armidale community for the first time.”

Ms Salklan was appointed Head of Digital Product Management and has relocated from Sydney. She said moving to a regional city and education hub such as Armidale was hugely attractive and has drastically improved the quality of her lifestyle.

“I feel like I am moving towards a healthier lifestyle with more time now available to do things I enjoy outside of work,” Ms Salklan said.

“I am enjoying the ease of commuting to work and the laid-back lifestyle of the country.”

The recruitment process for the TAFE Digital Headquarters is well underway for staff in administration, IT and digital roles. Interested applicants for TAFE Digital positions should visit www.iworkfor.nsw.gov.au for more information.
