NORTHERN Tablelands MP Adam Marshall has today announced three local primary school campuses will be open during the winter school holidays to give local communities new and extra spaces for recreation.
Mr Marshall said Bonshaw, Red Range and Warialda Public Schools had been included in an expansion of the NSW Government’s Share Our Space program for the upcoming holiday period.
“The playgrounds and ovals will be available for local communities to use over the school holidays at Red Range, Bonshaw and Warialda and I’m hoping lots of parents and family groups will take advantage of the program over the next two weeks,” Mr Marshall said.
“The Share Our Space program is a great one, especially in some of our smaller centres where there aren’t a lot of recreational activities for kids in holiday time.
“They will be able to use the school grounds for bigger spaces to play in and have some holiday fun.
“It’s all about broadening community recreation and open space options and kids and family members will have access to the grounds and the sports facilities and be able to keep active.”
Mr Marshall said each of the schools would also benefit, with each one receiving a $5,000 grant they can use to help upgrade their facilities for community and school use.
“That’s a valuable capital injection for schools like Red Range, Bonshaw and Warialda – it will be a big boost to them,” he said.
All three schools will be open over the holidays, from July 9 to 20, between 8am to 5pm.
