URALLA NAB BRANCH RE-OPENING

Thursday, 29 July 2020

On behalf of the community, I welcome the sudden change of heart of the National Australia Bank (NAB) and announcement late today that its Uralla branch will re-open to customers on Monday, 17 August.

This is a wonderful result and comes after NAB closed the branch at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and had not replied to questions and concerns expressed by Uralla Shire Council and the community about the future and when or if normal business would resume.

Many suspected, as did I, that NAB would use the cover of COVID-19 to quietly close the branch, as it did during the height of the drought in Bingara not too long ago.

I thank Uralla Shire Council and members of the local community who reached out to me and NAB with their concerns.

However this decision has come about, it’s a very welcome outcome for the Uralla community and once again demonstrates that people power counts and achieves results.

I also thank NAB for listening to their customers and the local community and doing the right thing by everyone.
