PROFESIONALLY produced videos showcasing the sights and sounds of Uralla Shire will spearhead a campaign to stimulate local businesses and encourage tourism, with Uralla Shire Council this month publicly launching its business recovery promotion.

Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall joined Mayor Michael Pearce this week for a viewing of the promotional videos and business map, which was funded by a $100,000 Bushfire Recovery Grant.

“Just like Dangars Lagoon, the tills of Uralla’s small businesses have again started to fill following three years of drought, bushfires and COVID-19,” Mr Marshall said.

“To capitalise on the incredible number of day-trippers currently travelling to Uralla, council has commissioned the development of two promotional videos which highlight the entrepreneurship of local businesses and warmth of the local community.

“Council hopes to entice visitors beyond the town’s thriving main street and experience the natural beauty of places like Mount Yarrowyck, Kingstown and Rocky River.

“A short video will be used on social media to promote tourism, while a longer 10 minute piece will play at the Visitor Information Centre, providing visitors with a more in-depth look at what the region has to offer.

“To complement the videos, a shire-wide interactive map has been developed which highlights different tourist related businesses including accommodation, hospitality venues and attractions.

“More than 300 operators have signed up to be included on the interactive map. Having Uralla’s businesses listed on one site will also encourage residents to support local services instead of shopping outside the shire.

“I’m impressed by what has been developed, in consultation with the local business operators, and look forward to seeing the financial benefits that flow into the community.”

Uralla Shire Mayor Michael Pearce said the the business promotional project will benefit the local economic recovery and provide a social and financial boost to the community.

“These projects encourage visitors to explore the region, while providing support to those working and living within the shire,” Cr Pearce said.

“Council was fortunate to be able to engage a range of local businesses to develop these resources.

“We now invite the community to drop into the Uralla library next Friday (23 April) as we launch the videos, the map and display other elements of this exciting project that will provide a much needed boost across the entire region.”

The Uralla Library drop-in session will be open between 4pm and 5pm, with the community able to screen the completed promotional videos, experience the interactive business map and read a summary of the business engagement project results.
