MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall has paid tribute to Uralla Shire Councillor and community stalwart Karen Dusting, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Cr Dusting was formally farewelled at a funeral service today, attended by hundreds of people from across the region, representing the many organisations she had involvement with, including the CWA, local government and the RSL.
“Karen loved being involved in the community – there was hardly a local group or organisation that she wasn’t a member of or volunteering for,” Mr Marshall said.
“She was always the first to put up her hand to offer her time for a cause in the community and would never turn away from someone in need.
“Karen was a well-loved and respected member of the community, who served on council with distinction from 2008 until her recent passing.
“I extend heartfelt condolences and thoughts to Karen’s husband Mark and the Dusting family.
“We were all blessed to know Karen and have her as part of our lives and she will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.”
Cr Dusting was a long-serving member and President the Uralla branch of the CWA and an active member of the RSL sub-branch, having formally served in the Royal Australian Airforce.
