THOUSANDS of motorcycle enthusiasts from near and far will descend on Walcha later this month for the annual Motorcycle Rally and yesterday Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall announced a $20,000 funding boost to help make it another huge success.

Mr Marshall was joined by Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes and Motorcycle Rally organising committee members for the announcement of State Government support, which will help make this year’s event bigger and better.

“The funding, from the NSW Regional Event Fund, will help cover some of the costs associated with the promotion and running of various events over the blockbuster weekend,” Mr Marshall said.

“Last year the rally attracted enough visitors to more than double the population of Walcha and organisers this year are hoping to see even more people turn out.

Some of the highlights this year include a motorcycle street procession, barrel racing and a demolition derby.

“I’m delighted this funding has been secured to provide a big boost for a successful event, just weeks out.”

Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes said council appreciated the support from the State Government.

“With the Walcha Motorcycle Rally fast becoming a ‘go to’ event for all types of motorbike enthusiasts the $20,000 Regional Event Fund grant from the State Government to assist in facilitating this event is appreciated by Council,” Cr Noakes said.

“Small events that lead to increased tourism through the year are fast becoming an important part of business viability and therefore the long-term sustainability of our community.”

The Walcha Motorcycle Rally will run from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 November 2023.
