WORK SOON TO BEGIN ON $15 MILLION MOREE EAST PUBLIC SCHOOL REBUILD

MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall today announced work would soon begin on the much-anticipated $15 million rebuild of Moree East Public School.

Mr Marshall said students, parents and staff were excited to know that their vision of new customised learning spaces would soon become a reality.

“The unique school design will not only provide learning spaces for the Kindergarten to Year 6 students but also provide access to parents and the wider community,” Mr Marshall said.

“A lengthy consultation and design phase has resulted in shared learning spaces that will accommodate state of the art classrooms, outdoor learning spaces, a teaching kitchen and a well-resourced library and school hall.

“Also unique to the new-look Moree East Public School will be a community precinct which will house a community room, an early childhood space, an undercover meeting area and a yarning circle.”

Mr Marshall said the school would be rebuilt over the next 18 months and in three stages.

“The rebuild of the school, over three stages, has been planned so that construction will cause minimal disruption to daily school operations and student learning,” he said.

“For all those interested, the school plan will be on display in school’s the front office.

“This has been a long time in the planning and it’s very exciting for the school community – the end result will certainly enhance the overall operation of the school.”

Education Minister Adrian Piccoli announced funding for the rebuild in late 2013 as part of a $35 million capital investment program in a number of Western NSW schools.

Mr Marshall said a ceremony was currently being planned to officially acknowledge and celebrate the beginning of construction. An invitation to the community to come and join in this historical event will be distributed in the near future.
